When we were approached by none other than Facebook to be part of their #DeserveToBeFound ad campaign back in May 2021, we had no idea what to expect. All we knew was that our little Glawning business had caught their eye — and that was exciting enough!
What we certainly didn’t expect when we rocked up with our glawning for the shoot somewhere in Middle England was a massive marquee, a full film crew, models, multiple cameras, lenses, lighting, audio equipment, and even camera dollies. It was like stepping into a film set overnight — completely surreal and absolutely epic!
We had been invited to be a small part of a major, 12-week initiative designed to champion small- and medium-sized businesses and defend the value of personalized advertising. Launched in the wake of significant privacy changes by Apple (IDFA), the campaign aimed to shift the narrative from data privacy concerns to the "good" that tailored ads can do for small businesses.
The key message was simple but powerful:
“Good ideas deserve to be found. Personalized ads help you find them.”
And we were beyond thrilled that our good idea — Glawning — was found and highlighted by Facebook. It was a proud moment for us as a small husband and wife team and a fantastic reminder of how far a small business with a big idea can go when given the right support and exposure.
The experience itself was unforgettable — from watching the crew work their magic to seeing our Glawning showcased in such a professional, high-profile way. It reminded us that sometimes dreams do get a little boost when you least expect it, and it’s always worth sharing your passion with the world.
