Lighting Ideas To Brighten Up Your Glamping Getaway

It’s always nice to be surrounded by things that make you feel relaxed and comfortable when you’re away from home. Decorating your glawning or tent is the perfect way to add your own touch and to give you a little sense of home comfort. What better way to do this than with a variety of lighting to give a soft, warm and comforting glow. Here are some suggestions of lights you could use to make sure yours stands out:

Fairy lights

Twinkly fairy lights are an ideal way to set the mood to a calm and relaxing atmosphere. ‘Lights4fun’  have a great selection that range from classic white LED string lights, to coloured fairy lights and even animal themed ones such as hummingbirds, butterflies and dragonflies. Some of the lights on offer are solar powered and some are battery operated – so always make sure you’ve got plenty of spare batteries as you don’t want the beautiful glow to run out!

‘Lighting direct’ also have a great range of battery and solar powered outdoor fairy lights that would be ideal. These are a lot more traditional and simplistic, but would still add a sparkle.

Lantern lights

Traditional Chinese lantern lights are a great quirky way to add light. They come in so many varieties of colour, pattern and design that they’re sure to stand out and provide some uniqueness. ‘The Glow Company’  do some multi-coloured solar powered string lantern lights that would be a great way to add a splash of colour.

‘Paper Lantern Store’  have pretty much every type and design of lantern light you could possibly want and are a beautiful way to decorate. They include traditional Chinese lanterns, string lantern lights, paper stars, seasonal themed such as Christmas and Halloween and many patterned lanterns. They even do custom print lanterns where you can upload an image of your choice – now there’s nothing more unique than your own custom made lighting!

Solar powered lights

Solar powered lights are a great alternative to battery powered ones. You can use them outside of your glawning as a great way to make yours stand out and for obvious practical reasons! You can also bring them inside as a great source of light.

B&Q have a great range of solar powered lights from traditional stake lights to animal themed ornaments. Homebase also have a great collection.

Alphabet letter lights

The popularity of alphabet letter lights is currently extremely high, so if you’re after something on trend, this is the lighting for you. Essentially, they are a letter fitted with LED lights that come in all shapes and sizes. You can also buy symbols, such as ‘&’ and hearts. Although these in theory are very simplistic, the possibilities you can use them for are pretty much endless. You can use them to spell something such as ‘home’ and ‘love’, you could use them to symbolise the initials of people’s names and pretty much anything you like! They really are a great unique way to add light.

‘Festive Lights’ stock all letters and some symbols. ‘Up in Lights’  also do letters and symbols, but if you’re feeling creative and really want to stand out, they also do shapes such as moons and stars, a unicorn, a cactus and a panda…

Letter light box

This type of lighting is also very on trend and unique. They come in different sizes, A3, A4 and A5 and are mostly battery operated. They provide an LED cinematic light that you can add letter stickers and symbols to and create messages that light up! A perfect way to add a little personalisation and a warm light.

LED candles

Candles are such a lovely way to add a cosy feel to any setting. However sometimes burning candles can be quite dangerous and they should never be left unattended if you choose to do so wherever you are. A great alternative to leave you worry free are LED candles. No real flame, but still a flicker and a lovely light.

‘Lights4fun’ have an extensive range of LED candles such as traditional pillar candles, tea lights, taper candles, even themed ones such as Christmas trees! The Range also have a great variety including scented LED candles which would be great to add some fragrance.

Jars filled with light

This is a creative and beautiful way to add a sparkle to your glawning/tent and is something you can make yourself which is always fun! ‘Lights4fun’  have an amazing step-by-step guide of how to do this. The twinkly light that comes through the jar is a great way to get a soft delicate light.

If you don’t fancy making your own, you can buy them ready made and ‘not on the high street’ have a great selection that come in all different colours.
