What is a Glawning made from? Is it fire-retardant?

Applies to:All 2021+ Glawnings

In short

Current Glawnings are made from 200gsm waterproof, mildew-resistant polycotton canvas. The canvas isn't fire-retardant; only the stove jack is. Tents bought before 2021 were made from 350gsm 100% cotton canvas.

The fabric

  • 200gsm polycotton: waterproof, breathable and mildew-resistant.
  • Polycotton gives the best balance of comfort, weight and ease of care of all the fabrics we've tried.
  • Groundsheet: zipped-in 420D Oxford fabric with a waterproof PU coating.

Is it fire-retardant?

The stove jack is fire-retardant. The rest of the tent isn't, because the treatment adds significant weight and interferes with the waterproofing.

Older Glawnings

Glawnings bought before 2021 were made from 350gsm 100% cotton canvas.
